Sam Wiegers obtained a Bachelor in ‘International Studies’ at Leyden University in 2023.
This bachelor included a semester at the University of Toulouse II, and the Dutch Institute
Morocco NIMAR.
He held a position in the Leyden University Faculty Council for Humanities in 2021-2022.
Additionally, he was a student consultant to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with PRINS, a
collective consultancy project, balancing conflicting human rights in the MENA region.
Currently, he is active at PBI Nederland, working on safeguarding human rights defenders.
Over the past months, he has worked intensively with Jaap Spier. Together, they initiated an
international project on how to cope with climate losses with an emphasis on an equitable
allocation of resources.
Coming academic year, Sam will start the CHARM-EU masters programme ‘Global
Challenges for Sustainability’, a collaboration between multiple European Universities
